- How can I receive updates about the conference?
Please send an e-mail to WREC2010@esi-dc.com and request to be added to the conference e-mail list.
- Is there a registration fee for the conference?
Registration for this event is free and open to the public.
- When will registration open?
Registration will open in March 2010. If you would like to be notified when registration opens, please request to be added to the conference e-mail list by sending a message to WREC2010@esi-dc.com.
- Is there a registration deadline, or can I register the day of the event?
Participants can register the day of the event, however advance registration is encouraged. Friday, May 14, 2010 will be the last day to register online.

Conference Content
- What topics will be discussed at the conference?
This conference is a leading forum to discuss the latest findings in evaluation of welfare programs and policies, ways to incorporate findings into the design and implementation of programs and policies, and strategies for future evaluations. The conference will center on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program while examining its links to a broad range of related programs and policies.
- Is it possible to see agendas from previous years?
Currently, an agenda from the 2009 conference is available on our website, as well as videos of selected sessions.
- Where can I find information about submitting a proposal?
To find information about submitting a proposal, please visit the “Call for Proposals” page by clicking here.
- What is the deadline for proposal submissions?
The deadline is Friday, December 18, 2009.
- When will I be notified of the status of my proposal?
All successful applicants will be notified that their proposal has been selected no later than ten weeks before the conference.
- What do you look for in a proposal?
Proposals will be judged on content, clarity, and relevance to the conference’s overarching goal of disseminating research about TANF and related programs. In addition, ACF has the goal of developing a coherent, well-organized conference. Worthy proposals are sometimes excluded for the purpose of topical consistency.
- Will an agenda be provided prior to the conference?
Yes. The agenda will be posted on the conference website when registration opens in March 2010.
- Will any of the conference sessions be archived?
Video footage of selected sessions will be made available on the conference website.
- Will any of the presentations be made available after the conference?
Electronic copies of the PowerPoint presentations from the conference can be requested by sending an e-mail to WREC2010@esi-dc.com.
- Who is the conference intended for? Is it an academic event, or a policy conference, or aimed around technical assistance?
The conference is intended for a broad audience, particularly state, federal and local government practitioners and researchers. While the sessions are focused on research and evaluation, we find that these sessions are useful and have applications for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners.

Conference Accommodations
- Are there hotel rooms available for conference attendees?
For your convenience, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Capital Hilton at a discounted rate of $209 per night for single or double occupancy, plus applicable state and local taxes which are currently 14.5% per room per night. More information about reserving hotel rooms will be available on the conference website at a later date.
